WHAT IS COMING UP:

The next 'The Power of the Mind' training will start in
Helsinki on Saturday 23rd of April. There will be free
introductions to this training at the Harmoniahuone office
on Tuesday 5th April and also on Tuesday 19th April, both
at 5pm. To find out more about this incredible training
program go to
http://www.mypowerfulmind.com/page/page/1819535.htm

Tony will be in Oulu (Finland) from 9th April to the 17th
April.

On the 9th and 10th he will be at the Harmoniahuone stand
at the Inspis-Messut (Well-being and inspiration fair) in
Pohjankartano. Please call in and say hello.

On Monday 11th Tony will have a free presentation from
5.30pm about the training that he is offering, and Sari
will do the same from 7pm. You are free to attend one or
both sessions. Don't be concerned that you may not
understand enough English for this - The language will be
simple and someone will help you if you need it. This will
be held in the Tetrantilat building, M?kelinkatu 31, in the
centre of Oulu. The room is on the basement level. (The ?
should be an a with dots!)

On Thursday 14th April from 4 - 6pm Tony will run a
short training session on 'An Image of the Mind'. When we
think of something it usually brings a picture of that
thing into our mind. That picture helps us to understand
the thing we are thinking of. But if we start to think of
our mind, most of us do not have a clear picture of what
the mind is. In this training you will build a picture that
you can use to understand your mind. This training is 20
Euro per person, or 29 Euro to attend this and also the
training on Friday 15th. Once again, the English language
will be simple, and there will be someone that can help if
you need it. Click here

to book on both Thursday's and Friday's training. This will
be held in the Tetrantilat building, M?kelinkatu 31, in the
centre of Oulu. The room is on the basement level. (The ?

On Friday 15th April from 4 - 6pm Tony will run a short
training session on 'Self Image'. What is it, what does it
do, how is it formed, and how do we change it. Our self
image lives in our sub-conscious minds, so we are not
consciously aware of it, but it contains the auto-pilot
which guides our lives. This training is 20
Euro per person, or 29 Euro to attend this and also the
training on Thursday 14th. The English language will be
simple, and there will be someone that can help if you need
it. Click here

On Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th, 10am to 6pm, there will
be a two day training run by both Sari and Tony. More
details soon, but book this in your calendar now. You will
not want to miss it. Tony's English language will be
simple, and there will be someone that can help if you need
it - Sari will present in Finnish but there will be some
help with that if you need it. This will be held in the
Tetrantilat building, M?kelinkatu 31, in the centre of
Oulu. The room is on the basement level. (The ? should be

FREE EBOOK:

The Go-Getter, A Story That Tells You How to be One, by
Peter B. Kyne

When I was first given a copy of this book, I read it from
cover to cover in one sitting. It is easy to read and
entertaining, but also paints a lasting picture in the mind
about the character of a Go-Getter.

Most of us have some sort of intuitive idea of what a
Go-Getter is like, but it is a difficult quality to
describe. When I came across this story, first published in
1921, I felt that it succeeded perfectly in describing the
way that a Go-Getter acts.

When Napoleon Hill was studying hundreds of successful
people, and analysing the characteristics that they had in
common, he found that they all had, among other things, the
ability to make decisions and then act on them, and they
also had mentors that they could go to for advice or to
compare themselves with.

Many people do not understand two important facts about
mentors. A mentor does not have to be personally known to
you, and does not have to be alive, or even a real person.
That may sound a little far fetched, but let me explain.

Ted Turner built a media communications empire and in the
process made himself a billionaire. He is both admired and
despised, but whatever we think of him, no-one can deny
that he is a Go-Getter. When Ted Turner was studying at
university his father, a practical and successful
businessman, was frustrated that Ted chose to study Greek
classics. He could not see how that study would help Ted
become successful in his life. What his father did not
understand, was that Ted was studying the legendary heros
of Greek mythology - the characters that siezed
opportunities, turned defeats into victories, and overcame
great obstacles. These characters became some of Ted's
mentors, and by studying them, Ted conditioned his mind to
get the same sort of results in his life.

When you have read this short story, you will have Bill
Peck as one of your mentors. When you are faced with
obstacles in your life, and you wonder how a Go-Getter
would handle them, you will know enough about the character
of Bill Peck, to understand how he would have reacted. Then
you understand how a Go-Getter would react, and you are
able to choose to act that way yourself, if you wish.

This version of the book is almost identical to the
original publication, but I have made a few changes to
modernise the language in places where the original words
are no longer in common English usage.

To get your copy of this book, go to
http://www.mypowerfulmind.com/page/page/1653420.htm and
enter your email address in the box at the bottom of the
page. You will receive an email telling you how to get the
book.

Enjoy this short story, but don't stop there. Use it to
improve the results that you are getting in your life, by
having a Go-Getter as a mentor.

HOW WE REACT TO IDEAS THAT COME TO US:

Much of the time when a new idea comes to us, we handle
that idea and move on, without ever becoming consciously
aware of the process. During the times when we are
consciously aware of the process of handling a new idea, we
often reject that idea without understanding why we
rejected it, or sometimes without even understanding that
we did reject it.

How can this be?

To understand this, lets briefly review a few of the
mechanics of how our minds work. When a new idea comes to
us, it comes into our conscious mind. It can be as a result
of our own thinking, or it can be from an outside source.
Immediately, and sometimes before the new idea is even
properly formed, our sub-conscious mind starts to evaluate
that idea.

Now this evaluation is happening in our sub-conscious mind.
That means that we are not consciously aware of it, but it
is happening anyway.

So how does our sub-conscious mind evaluate an idea,
sometimes before the idea is complete, and without us being
aware that this is going on. To understand this we need to
understand a characteristic of our sub-conscious mind.

Our sub-conscious mind has no ability to reason. If that is
so, how can it evaluate a new idea? Well one way is to ask
itself, does this new idea fit with what I already 'know'.
If it does, then the new idea will not be immediately
rejected. If it doesn't then the sub-conscious mind will
send a message to the conscious mind to say that this new
idea doesn't fit. Usually at this point, the conscious mind
will believe what the sub-conscious mind is saying to it,
and reject the idea.

There are a number of problems with this. What if the
information that the sub-conscious mind is evaluating the
new idea against, is wrong?

A common example of this is when a new idea comes into our
conscious mind, and our sub-conscious mind starts to
evaluate it. The sub-conscious mind says, 'I already know
that'. Now that 'I know that' message is sent to the
conscious mind, and what happens then?

Often the conscious mind stops considering the new idea at
that point, and moves on to something new. But did the
sub-conscious mind really know that? Maybe sometimes, but
often the new idea is not even properly formed yet, so how
could the sub-conscious mind be sure that it 'knew' that.

Unfortunately when the conscious mind gets the 'I know
that' message, it usually stops receiving or processing the
new idea, and that means the opportunity to learn something
new is lost.

Why would our sub-conscious mind act in a way that stops us
from learning? To answer that, and to understand in detail
how this process works, you will have to attend my 'Power
of the Mind' training, or perhaps wait for another article
in the future, but I do have space to briefly discuss what
we can do about it.

How can we interrupt our sub-conscious mind so that it does
not stop us learning from new ideas, when we are exposed to
them. I suggest that there are two easy ways.

Firstly, when we hear our sub-conscious mind saying 'That
doesn't fit', or 'That can't be right', or something
similar, we can simply say to our sub-conscious mind
'Thank-you for that information'. This means that we have
decided not to act on the message that our sub-conscious
mind was sending. Our conscious mind is then free to
continue considering, reasoning and thinking about the new
idea.

The second thing we can do is ask our conscious mind to
think about the new idea in a way it may have not done
before. Usually our conscious mind thinks 'Is this idea
right?', or 'Is this idea wrong?'. Instead of those
questions we could ask 'Could this idea change or improve
my life in some way?'.

This allows us to look at a new idea in a completely fresh
way, without being influenced by all the things that we
have learnt before, or that we already 'know'.

It was Will Rogers who said many years ago that "it's not
what people don't know that hurts them. It's what they do
know that just ain't so."

A NEW LOOK AT TIME MANAGEMENT:

Last week I had the privilege of spending some quality time
with a dear friend. Unfortunately we live on opposite sides
of the world, so we do not spend a lot of time together,
but when we do get together it is an uplifting experience.

Paul, and his wife Glenys, have just finished moving into a
beautiful new dream home that they have built. It was the
first time that I had seen it, and after showing me through
the house we went outside and looked out over their land.
Paul pointed out where the large spa pool would be, and how
there would be a lake over there, where the Monet bridge
would be, and how the paths would be laid out.

I recalled how when we had last met, almost a year before,
Paul told me that they had found a piece of land and bought
it, and they were going to build their new dream home, a
Quaker barn on it. He had described to me how it would
look, what it would be made of, and especially how his new
workshop would be laid out, and now he had just shown me
through the actual completed building.

It reminded me of something I first heard from Jim Rohn,
many years ago. Jim said something to the effect that
humans were the only species that could start something
after it was finished. What did he mean by that? He meant
that we could completely build something in our mind before
we started physically building it.

So how does this relate to time management? Imagine if
someone had visited Paul when he was just starting to build
the house. All the materials are there on his land, and the
visitor asked Paul what he was building. Imagine Paul had
answered that he didn't really know, but he would just see
what it turned into when it was finished. Do you think that
Paul would now be living in his dream home? I very much
doubt it.

But many of us live our lives by just seeing how it turns
out. We would never just collect up some building materials
and start putting them together and see how it turns out.
But we do get up in the morning, do whatever we are in the
habit of doing during the day, and then go back to bed, and
repeat the process day after day. We build our lives by
taking whatever comes to us each day, and putting it
together to see what it turns out to be.

Consider how much more productive it would be if we didn't
get up in the morning until we had decided what we would
build with our day. We would usually move ourselves a step
closer to our goals each day, in spite of what the day
threw at us.

When we are born, we all start out exactly the same, with
essentially the same potential. From then on we use that
potential differently, and achieve different results. By
understanding how and why we achieve different results, we
can take control of our results from this day on, and
change the whole direction of our lives.

The 'Power of the Mind' training gives a deeper
understanding of how we can establish worthwhile and
meaningful goals, and then move toward achieving them day
by day. Go to
http://www.mypowerfulmind.com/page/page/1819535.htm to find
out more.
